Teaching the Scientific Method

I have blogged before about social science, economics, and science in general.  A common, recurring theme is adherence to the scientific method and the use of control groups.  It turns out that teaching the scientific method can be fun and accessible to young people.  Here is a then 7 year-old applying the scientific method to the age old question of “What would happend if I pulled an enormous eraser behind my car?”

    Great presentation, Grace!

  2. Joe says:

Although Grace is as smart as a whip, the best part of the presentation is Cate in the background singing, “still pulling rubber, still pulling rubber, still pulling rubber”. That was great. Nice work Grace, you did a fine job.

I can honestly say that’s the first time I have heard anyone under the age 21 (let alone a 7-year-old) utter the word “hypothesis”. Wow!

I can see that my granddaughter gets her engineering knowledge from her granddad.
