The Road Ahead

In cleaning out the attic recently I came across The Road Ahead, the 1995 book by Bill Gates where he predicts that computing, television, and entertainment were going to merge, via the internet.

First, in general he was right, and still Microsoft did not come to dominate this revolution.

It just goes to show that it’s not enough to be right.

Second, I love the title:

The Road Ahead: Completely Revised and Up-to-Date

Isn’t that just so . . . completely revised and up-to-date . . .until we get just a wee bit further down the road, when which – I confidently predict – it will need another refreshing.

Do you know whether the “Completely Revised and Up-to-Date” was tongue-in-cheek, or literally an acknowledgment of a revision?
